Artist: Frederick (Fred) Hines. (Exh: 1877-1897)

Title: 'A Stream in Sherwood Forest'

Medium: Oil on canvas.

Size: 18" x 32" unframed (in inches)

28" x 42" framed (in inches).

Signed, Inscribed verso.

In original swept gold leaf frame.

In lovely original condition after being sympathetically cleaned.

'A woman gathering kindling in the forest of Sherwood'. This is a very good example of the artist's early oil painting work. It is a large size with it's contemporary high quality Victorian swept frame.

Fred Hines was a landscape artist in oils and watercolours, but painted in oils mainly in his early career. Brother the Theodore Hines. Lived in London and Essex.

Exhibited widely at Dudley Gallery, Dowdeswell Galleries, Grosvenor Gallery, Glasgow Institute, Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, Manchester, Royal Academy, Royal Institute etc..
