A superb oil on canvas by the renowned Victorian period animal painter, Richard Ansdell. The work shows a gundog in a snowy mountainous landscape, hunting a covey of ptarmigan in the foreground. The work is superb and comes from his later period being signed and dated ''R. Ansdell 79''. The painting is in excellent condition with a typical craquelure. The painting is mounted in a later frame dating to the 1950''s. A rare opportunity to purchase a work by this artist.
