A fine oil on panel by the noted Nottinghamshire artist James Walsham Baldock. The scene show a group of cattle at rest by the waters edge. The work is mounted in the original fine quality gilt frame. The painting has the Baldock signature on the reverse of the panel. James Walsham Baldock (Fl.1867-1887) was based in Worksop, Nottinghamshire and worked as an animal and sporting painter, specializing in cattle, but also horses and hunting scenes in the style of Herring senior. He exhibited in London at the Sussex Street Gallery and New watercolour society. The condition of this work is excellent. C.1880
