A fine quality oil on canvas depicting the Gravedigger from Hamlet. The painting shows the gravedigger at the point where he has just turned up Yorick''s skull, and the scene is taken from Hamlet''s point of view. There is a quote from the play on the revers. The work is in excellent condition, but sadly bears no signature, despite the obvious quality of the work. The painting is in the original gilt frame which has had some restoration and over gilding. C.1890.
