: A good quality oil on canvas portrait of the Irish, poet, composer, Thomas Moore (28 May 1779 – 25 February 1852). The work shows Moore seated with music and books at his desk and spectacles in hand, and is painted to a high standard. Moore is now best remembered for the lyrics he wrote for The Minstrel Boy and The Last Rose of Summer. The work is mounted in a later period frame, C.1900 but the oil painting dates to C.1850. The work is in good order, with some craquelure and a little repair. C.1850.
