A interesting eighteenth century oil on canvas depicting three ships under sail. The work dates to the mid Georgian period and is possibly the scene of a famous naval incident. The work has been lined in the nineteenth century and has suffered from over paint in areas, which has been sympathetically cleaned off and the underlying painting being revealed as it is. The frame was probably made for it in the nineteenth century, as the painting may have originally been part of a painted interior. C.1760
