A good sized watercolour by the artist George Robert Rushton, a noted and well regarded watercolourist. The picture shows a group of young cattle released onto a moor, gathering to drink at a water trough. The quality of the work is wonderful, the landscape is rendered in a loose style reminiscent of Newlyn and the Staithes group of artists, with a concentration on light and mood, rather than realism. The cows drinking as a group is also charmingly captured, and the whole image has a pre great war feel of peace and tranquility. The image is retained in it''s original frame and mount but it has been remounted at the back. The piece overall is a charming work, with a delightful feeling of calm and beauty about it, it is a good size and in excellent condition.
