Description

After Benjamin Herring (1830-1871) Pair of Hand Coloured Aquatints, The Silk and Satins of the Turf - engraved by J Summers and Published By P C McQueen and John Harrop Jn from Manchester on 21st October 1867, featuring thirty jockeys at the start. The Silk and Satins of the Field - Publisher was Thos Mc Lean on 20th October 1868 and engraver J Summers. The original are part of the Paul Mellon Collection at the Yale Centre for British Art in America. Benjamin Herring was born into the family of great sporting artists in 1830.
