William Cave Day "Caister Near Yarmouth" Oil Painting

Description

William Cave Day was born in Dewsbury, Yorkshire in 1862. He worked chiefly in Yorkshire (Harrogate and Knaresborough) where he spent much of his life and in 1918-19 he returned to West Cornwall to settle at St Ives and Carbis Bay for the final five years of his life, painting across Cornwall up to his death in 1924. This lovely example of the artist's work shows Caister on sea near Great Yarmouth. It measures 6"x 8", is in fine unrestored condition and is in a good hand finished frame. On the reverse is a lovely old label inscribed by the artist: "W. Cave Day R.B.A., City Bank Bldgs., James Street, Harrogate. Village near Yarmouth, Evening" (Caister).
