A superb local watercolour by the highly regarded marine and coastal painter, Thomas Bush Hardy.

Tower of Refuge, Isle of Man

Signed and dated 1893

Beautifully framed and mounted.

This lovely watercolour depicts several fishing and sailing boats in choppy manx waters with the iconic Tower of Refuge painted in the background.

Thomas Bush Hardy RBA (1842 - 1897) was one of the most successful and prolific marine and coastal artists of the 19th century. He took the time to study, understand and reproduce all the elements of a successful marine painting. This attention to detail is evident in his work and this watercolour is no exception. Thomas Bush Hardy was member of the New Watercolour Society and elected a member of the Royal Society of British Artists in 1884. He exhibited at the Royal Acadamy and Suffolk Street Galleries.
