A fine oil on wood panel depicting a scene of two countrymen, perhaps poachers, meeting on a road and comparing catches. The work is in miniature and of exquisite quality, and the painting is in excellent condition. The painting is mounted in a superb gilt frame much larger than the picture it drawers the viewer into the work. The frame has been left in a tired untouched country house state, very much shabby chic, it has the look of having hung in a house for centuries and been left to deteriorate, it is not for anyone who likes their antiques bright, shiny and new looking. The whole has a great faded country house look. The painting appears to be unsigned. C.1850.
