Description

Hirst Walker (1868 - 1957). Watercolour. "River Scene". Hirst Walker was a member of the Staithe School, a colony of 19th century painters based in the North Yorkshire village of Staithes. Inspired by French Impressionists such as Monet, Cezanne and Renoir, the group of twenty five artists contained other renowned artists such as Dame Laura Knight, her husband Harold Knight, Frederick Jackson and Joseph Bagshawe. Hirst Walker exhibited at the Royal Academy.
