Early 19th Cent Stick Barometer

19th century
Description

A very smart stick barometer by Cattely & Co London. It dates from the early 19th Cent around 1810. The case is in mahogany with all over black & white chequer inlay. It is in beautiful original and untouched condition but now needs a little restoration. The mercury tube needs cleaning and re-filling. You can buy kits for this from Meadows & Passmore.

The case has a lovely original finish and just needs a good wax polish.

Similar barometers seem to retail in restored condition for around £2000 so this could be something of a bargain.

The maximum dimensions are:

96cm(38") high

13cm(5.25") wide

6cm(2.5") deep

Declaration

Cross Antiques has dated this piece to the 1800s.
