A superb watercolour moorland landscape by the Scottish artist James Cadenhead RSA RSW (1858-1927). The work shows a dramatic and atmospheric landscape of mountains and bracken through which runs to the forefront of the work a stone track, along the track at the end of a days work is a man leading a horse and cart loaded with bracken. The work is fantastically done with broad strokes of colour in the landscape and detailed touches around the figure and horse. The work is a wonderful depiction of a dusk day in the highlands of Scotland. The picture is in excellent condition, dates to C.1910 and is signed with the artists distinct mongramme in the lower left, and newly mounted in an off white slip and framed in a period oak frame.James Cadenhead was born in Aberdeen 12 January 1858, son of George Cadenhead, Procurator Fiscal.
