A watercolour landscape painter who lived Nr Woking, Surrey and specialised in painting Dutch canal and town scenes. A Self Taught artist, he first painted the Dutch scenes under his own name but changed his name to a Dutch pseudnoym and thus adopted 'Louis Van Staaten'. There was a captive audience for his work and he showed three watercolours at the Royal Academy under the name 'Louis Van Staaten' He also painted English Landscapes and he also used pseudnoym 'Murray Thompson' mainly of Surrey Landscapes. He is highly sought after
