Talwrn is a small village in Anglesey which was renowned for its community of woodworkers who made distinctive items of furniture from the early 19th and 20th century.The items were "signed" with diamonds and dots inlay,and these items are sought by many discerning persons locally in North Wales.
This amazingly coloured antique a welsh dresser was made using well chosen, quarter sawn oak to display the timbers, naturally occurring medullary rays.
Following the Talwrn tradition, the dresser is decorated with inlaid diamonds and circle motifs.
The lower, dresser base features six sliding storage drawers and two cupboard doors, all of which sport the original, late Georgian antique brass knob handles and ivory diamond shaped eschuteons.
The upper, antique dresser display rack/shelving has very wide pine backboards, originally coloured to a matching oak finish and it has mahogany side pillars, a nice added extra.
This late Georgian antique Welsh dresser really is in excellent condition, the colour is just wonderful, it shines at you and is a very honest example.
Dating from around 1800-10, this antique dresser is now at Miles Griffiths antiques showrooms in Clitheroe, Lancashire.
