Walter Emsley "Whitby" Watercolour

Description

Walter Emsley was a Manchester born painter in oil and watercolour. He exhibited widely between 1883 and 1927 at the Royal Academy, Manchester, Liverpool and the Royal Cambrian Academy.

"CHURCH STREET, WHITBY" is a good watercolour measuring 14"x 10", showing a busy street scene in the centre of the town. It is mounted into a fine original watercolour gilt swept frame giving an overall size of 23"x 18". The picture is signed lower left. On the reverse it is inscribed with title and the artist's address: "16,Deansgate, Manchester".
