Owen Bowen "The Old Orchard" Oil Painting

1900 - 1920
Description

Owen Bowen was born in Leeds in 1873. He also lived in Robin Hood's Bay and East Keswick, Yorkshire.

Dales and coastal scenes were a speciality and he was a member of both the Staithes and Wharfedale Groups of Painters.

Bowen exhibited widely, including works at the Royal Academy, Royal Cambrian Academy, Liverpool and Manchester.

"THE OLD ORCHARD" is a fine example of the artist's work. It shows a lady feeding hens in an orchard at the back of on old farm building with a pantile roof.

It is an oil on canvas measuring 17"x 21" and is contained in a good old gilt frame giving an overall size of 24"x 27". It is signed lower left.

The painting is in excellent unrestored condition with very fresh bright colours.
