William Richardson was the son of a cabinet maker in York. He became an architect then specialised in drawings of abbeys and ruins. He exhibited his work at many galleries including the Royal Academy between 1842 and 1877.
"TOWER OF THE GREY FRIARS, RICHMOND" Yorkshire is a lovely old lithograph after a drawing by Richardson. It was published around 1850 for "The Monastic Ruins of Yorkshire". This antique print is the rare deluxe edition with fine original hand colour. The image measures 17"x 12", the overall paper size is 24"x 17".
