Joseph Kirkpatrick "In the Orchard" Watercolour

1900 - 1920
Description

Joseph Kirkpatrick was a landscape painter, watercolourist and engraver. He was born in Liverpool where he studied at the School Of Art under John Finnie. He also studied at the Academie Julian in Paris under Bouguereau and Gabriel Ferrier.

Kirkpatrick exhibited between 1898 and 1928 at the Royal Academy, the Royal Institute and the Royal Cambrian Academy as well as at various other venues. The Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool has two of his works.

Some of his pictures show farming and country people at work and his paintings often have an earthy quality reminiscent of some of the French nineteenth century genre artists.

He lived in London for a number of years before he moved to Arundel in Sussex in 1916.

"IN THE ORCHARD" is an extremely well preserved watercolour measuring 9"x 13". It has been mounted using conservation board back into it's very good original gilt watercolour swept frame giving an overall size of 18"x 22".
