Title: 'A gale in the forest'

Overall framed size: 9.5'' x 10.25''

Signed, inscribed and dated 1920.

A small very detailed atmospheric etching.

About Fred Cecil Jones R.B.A. (1891-1956)

Fred Cecil Jones was a painter of topographical studies in watercolour, he was a black and white artist. Born in Bradford and the son of an artist. He studied at the Bradford School of Art and at the Leeds School of Art. Exhibited at the R.A. from 1931, R.B.A., R.S.A., and R.W.S. He was elected R.B.A. in 1940. Art master at Pudsey Grammar School and deputy principal of Pudsey Technical School. Drew the towns and cities of Yorkshire with close observation and fine detail, often applying tinted washes to the drawings. Represented in the public galleries in Bradford, Wakefield and Huddersfield. He died at Pudsey where he had lived for many years.
