About George Graham R.S.W., R.I., R.O.I. (resigned), R.B.A. (1881-1949):
George Graham was born in Leeds and, like his friend Fred Lawson, studied at the Leeds School of Art but later studied with Sir Frank Brangwyn, William Nicholson and John Macallan Swan. He shared a studio with Fred Lawson at Castle Bolton for a number of years. He later married Catherine Pauli, the daughter of the vicar of Redmire and moved to Winchelsea in Sussex. However, he returned to Yorkshire regularly and for many years was President of the Society of Yorkshire Artists and was a member of the Castle Bolton Group of Artists.
