This type of tapestry was known as “Berlin work” which incorporates coloured wools. This embroided tapestry which sits on a canvas, depicts a country cottage scene, which was taken from a picture in the manner of the famous artist, George Moorland (1763 – 1804). The picture depicts two women, a man and child. The two women are vying for the man’s attention. Below the child is mischievously trying to annoy the bird that has escaped from its cage. Above, there is a cat perched in the tree that has seen the bird, which has escaped its cage along with another cat that is sitting on the sewing wheel machine also watching the bird! The pictures are mounted in a glass fronted gilt frame. The tapestry show superb craftsmanship and quality. It is completely original and in excellent condition.

Condition Report:
The tapestry is completely original and in excellent condition. There is no damage to the embroided tapestry. There is a hanging wire to the back and it is ready to be hung. Free of woodworm, solid in joint and ready to use.
