Whilst this design of Welsh antique oak dresser is not what you would normally associate with typical antique dressers, it is a really unusual version.
Not made to sit and be admired in one's home, this antique oak dresser, from the Conway valley in Wales, was made to be a working piece of furniture, to store upon it dairy equipment required for making cheeses, butter and creams on the dairy farm.
The hewn and adzed oak timber used is such a superb, original colour.
It is incredibly rare for a dresser like this to have survived in such great condition as they were made for parlours and farm buildings.
The oak dresser base section stands full height on stile type feet, the openings have moulded inside edges with slatted backs and sides, the bottom is boarded solid oak.
The upper oak rack can be lifted off, it has a moulded cornice with a shaped front to the top and bottom with fantastic thick and wide oak back boards.
18th Century antique oak dairy dressers of this kind, rarely surface in such fabulous, original condition.
