Fred Lawson "The Woodcutters, February" Watercolour, Exhibited R.i.

Description

Fred Lawson was born in Yeadon, Leeds in 1888. He studied at Dewsbury and Leeds Schools of Art before moving to Castle Bolton near Leyburn in Wensleydale, Yorkshire. He formed the Castle Bolton Group of Painters and was Vice President of the Yorkshire Union of Artists.

He exhibited his pictures at the Royal Academy, Liverpool, Glasgow, the Royal Institute and other local and National galleries.

"THE WOODCUTTERS, FEBRUARY" is a charming old watercolour measuring 10"x 14". It is signed lower left and dated 1916. On the reverse is the title in pencil and also "Exhibited R.I. 1916". It is suitably framed in an old oak frame.
