An Extremely Decorative Portrait Print

19th century
Description

An extremely decorative 19thC portrait print of a 17thC person wearing a cartwheel ruff. The surface is marked 'AEtatis 48' 'JG Cuyp Fecit' 'An 1647' This would be Jacob Gerritz Cuyp 1594-1650. The rear shows the picture to be on wood ply and the retaining nails are not old. The frame is of a design contemporary with the picture and is faintly marked.The surface of the picure has some surface scratches. It has the feel of something one would have found in late Victorian times as a momento of an Italian tour.

It measures overall 53 cms wide by 62 high.
