A fine oil on canvas portrait of a young man playing chess, entitled ''P-K4'' or Prawn to King four. The work is highly competent and shows a long man carefully considering his next move at a game of chess. The work retains the original label on the reverse that shows it was exhibited at the Royal Institute of oil painters. The painting is signed and dated 1942, and is mounted in the original painted frame. The whole is in excellent condition.
Linda Bramley exhibited in the 30''s and 40''s, having works hung at The Royal Society of Artist Birmingham, The New English Art Club, The Society of Women Artists and also as mentioned The Royal Institute of Oil Painters.
