A fine oil on canvas by the painter William Collins RA, once considered the equal of Turner and Constable. The scene shows a family arriving back at their cottage, near the side of a woodland. The work is mounted in the original gilt frame, which on the reverse shows that the work was once exhibited as it has the artist address etc. This work was painted c.1820.The condition of the work is that it has been professionally restored, there was a tear down the centre which was patched and repaired. The oil was then cleaned, it has not been relined.The frame has been totally restored but retains much of its originality including the gilding, losses around the edge have been professionally replacedWilliam Collins R.A. was one of the best known artists of his time.
