Barnard Castle Watercolour By Arthur Tucker Rba

A fine and technically wonderful watercolour landscape depicting Barnard Castle, County Durham, by founder member of the lake artists society, Arthur Tucker RBA. The work shows a view accross the water to the ruined castle in the background, it is autumn with the leaves turned brown on the trees. The work is mounted in the original gilt frame and slip, and is signed A Tucker to the lower left. The whole is in excellent untouched condition. C.1900. Arthur Tucker RBA 1864-1929 was the son of artist Edward Tucker and born in Bristol, he will forever be associated with the north of England and the lakes in particular where he helped form the the lake artists society. He widely exhibited including 14 times at the Royal Academy and 184 times at the Royal society of British artists, where he was elected a member in 1896.
