A charming and interesting sepia wash portrait of an elderly farmer at ease. The work is done with confidence and technical flare showing the sitters character well. The picture is signed ? Ward 1940 the initial to the signature is too florid to distinguish and there are several artists from the period it could be, whoever it is it is very well done. The work is in excellent condition and in the original simple black frame, however there is a slight watermark on the slip.
