Fred Lawson "Wensleydale" Yorkshire Watercolour

1920 - 1940
Description

Fred Lawson was born in Yeadon, Leeds in 1888. He studied at Dewsbury and Leeds Schools of Art before moving to Castle Bolton near Leyburn in Wensleydale, Yorkshire. He formed the Castle Bolton Group of Painters and was Vice President of the Yorkshire Union of Artists.

He exhibited his pictures at the Royal Academy, Liverpool, Glasgow, the Royal Institute and other local and National galleries.

This picture is titled "IN GHYLL BECK AFTER TREE FELLING, WENSLEYDALE" and shows woodland close to the artist's home.

It measure 12"x 12" and is signed lower left.

It is in a suitable old plain oak frame with a new conservation cream mount giving an overall size of 18"x 20".
