David Woodlock "The Orchard Wicket" Watercolour

Description

We are please to offer this charming watercolour by the Liverpool artist David Woodlock.

Although well known as a Liverpool painter, Woodlock was born in Ireland in 1842. Much of his working life as a painter was spent in Liverpool: he exhibited 118 times at the Walker Art Gallery there. He also exhibited 17 times at the Royal Academy and many other times at galleries throughout the country.

"The Orchard Wicket" is a lovely example of Woodlock's work. It measures 7"x 9" and is contained in a good period gilt frame (see photo) giving an overall size of 14"x 17". It is signed on the lower centre and is inscribed on the reverse in pencil with the title. It also has a good old label on the back listing where the artist had exhibited.
