Artist: George Graham R.S.W., R.I., R.O.I. (resigned), R.B.A. (1881-1949)

Title: 'Horse & cart travelling towards Richmond Castle'

Medium: Oil on canvas

Size: 28'' x 40'' (unframed size in inches)

Signed & dated 1910.

A very fine large oil painting of Richmond Castle painted in the first year (1910) that he moved permanently to Wensleydale, North Yorkshire.

About George Graham R.S.W., R.I., R.O.I. (resigned), R.B.A. (1881-1949):

George Graham was born in Leeds and, like his friend Fred Lawson, studied at the Leeds School of Art but later studied with Sir Frank Brangwyn, William Nicholson and John Macallan Swan. He shared a studio with Fred Lawson at Castle Bolton for a number of years. He later married Catherine Pauli, the daughter of the vicar of Redmire and moved to Winchelsea in Sussex. However, he returned to Yorkshire regularly and for many years was President of the Society of Yorkshire Artists and was a member of the Castle Bolton Group of Artists.
