A fine nineteenth century oil on canvas painting of hare coursing. The scene depicts two greyhounds chasing down a hare in a moorland landscape with a rider following close behind. The quality of the painting is fine and realistic, and the landscape detailed and full of atmosphere. The work is signed to the lower left but I have been unable to decipher it. The whole is mounted in a fine quality period frame in excellent condition. The painting has been cleaned and had some minor repairs. The whole is a great period sporting picture of an unusual subject. C.1870.
