William Gilbert Foster "At Runswick" Watercolour

Description

William Gilbert Foster R.B.A. was born in Manchester in 1955. He attended Leeds Grammar School but his father, a portrait painter, taught him art. He later taught at Leeds Grammar School and the Art College.

He was a founder member of the Staithes Group of artists and the coast of North Yorkshire was a favourite subject for his pictures. He taught Owen Bowen, another of the Staithes Group, to paint.

His work was exhibited widely in this country at the Royal Academy, Birmingham, Liverpool and the Royal Society of British Artists, and also abroad.

"AT RUNSWICK" is a very fine quality watercolour measuring 15"x 11". The colours remain fresh and strong and the subject is charming, making this a wonderful example of the artist's work.
