An extremely rare untouched naive school, oil on canvas of a family group. The painting shows a pair of children, very probably brothers, dressed in traditional early victorian childrens clothes, all beautifully painted in that slightly stiff naive way. The two brothers are shown out for a ride on their pet donkey, with it''s delightful purpose made childs side saddle, the youngest child sitting in the saddle can be seen to have just had his hat blown off by the wind, and it lays tantalisingly in front of the donkey. The setting is the rolling English landscape probably that owned by the boy''s father, in the background can be seen what looks like a ruin abbey, perhaps one of the famous ones of Yorkshire.
