Victorian Oil Portrait of a Lady

A charming oil on canvas head and shoulders portrait of a lady, dating to the late Victorian period. The work shows a seated young lady looking to her right with the light hitting her from the same direction. The figure is dressed in blue with her hair arranged up. The work is beautifully done with warmth and tenderness, and is signed to the lowerer right, A.A.Coombs, this is for Amy A Coombes a little known artist from Manchester, who seems to only have exhibited once at The Manchester City Art Gallery in 1891, however from this work we can see she was an artist of talent, in fact it is my belief that this is a self portrait. The work is mounted in a slightly later period gilt frame. The whole is in excellent untouched condition, C.1900.
