It was listed by Mansion House Antiques & Fine Art. Sold pieces stay on Sellingantiques as a record of what has passed through, and the next one is rarely far away.
Mansion House Antiques & Fine Art has dated this piece to the 1900s.
We have re-waxed the wooden frame in order to nourish the walnut veneer, which was a little dry.
The painting has been well executed to a realistic scale and has retained good detail and shadowing in the grassy foreground, being complemented with a clear cloudy blue skyline above a meadow.
The condition is very good for the age, which we estimate to be between c1900-1920.
The oil is a nice size and would be a good decorative piece for any study or office.
The painting is of a good standard, although no signature could be found.
