Epsom Races Old Aquatint 1819

Description

This lovely old print is after a painting by Henry Alken.

It is inscribed below:

"EPSOM RACES - to the NOBLEMEN AND GENTLEMEN SUBSCRIBERS this plate representing the EPSOM RACE COURSE, with Mr. Thornhill's chestnut colt SAM beating Lord Darlington's GREY and Sir John Shelley's PRINCE PAUL for the Derby Stakes May 28th 1818.,

is dedicated with submission by their obedient servant S.&J.Fuller."

It is a coloured Aquatint by T.Sutherland, measuring 16"x 26."

Below is the publication line:

"London published Feb. 9th 1819

by S.&J.Fuller at their Sporting Gallery, 34, Rathbone Place"

Condition is quite good for it's age with some minor imperfections and it is in a good old 3"wide mahogany frame with a gold slip.
