A fine impressionist oil painting of the Thames, Blackfriars Bridge and Saint Pauls, by the artist B. Gordon Smith, who exhibited from 1935-1940. The painting is worked in thick impasto oils and shows wonderfully the scene accross the Thames. The painting is mounted in the original fine moulded, painted and gilded frame and retains the artist''s label to reverse, showing it was an exhibited work. The whole is a great image of London in a very modern style, the work is as a whole in excellent condition and signed with initials. C.1940.
