A eighteenth century portrait in oil on paper on canvas, of a gentleman in fine clothes. The work is well painted with much detailed work to the face and clothes, and is also frame in the original gilt untouched frame. It must be stated that because the work was painted on paper and laid down on canvas it has suffered with tears and rips, which I hope can be fully seen in the photographs, I have had all of this stabilised and restored to a conservation standard, however the tears are still visable. The painting does therefore have faults but it also has a wonderful untouched country house look, it literally looks like it was just taken down from the house in which it has hung for two hundred years and for that reason would only appeal to the sort of person who likes their antiques to reflect their age and to be untampered with.
