A Large Late 17th Century Portrait of a Gentleman in Armour.

17th century
For Sale by Youngs Antiques
Description

A large late 17th century English portrait of a gentleman in armour. Originally this portrait would have been on and oval stretcher and set within an oval frame. At some stage in recent years it has been relined and re-stretchered on to a rectangular stretcher and set within an oval slip in a modern frame. The portrait is of very good quality and does require some restorations and cleaning as there are losses and surface haze possible from mildew, but otherwise it's in good solid order.
