Description

A very fine Flight & Barr Worcester Porcelain Jug by John Pennington c.1790. Of shouldered form with a scrolled handle picked out in gold, painted in sepia monochrome below the spout with a round panel depicting 'EUROPE', a crowned lady seated before a classical portico, a cornucopia under her left arm, the reins of a horse in her right hand, emblems of war and the arts resting at her feet, the wide blue border above richly gilded,  19cm high, crescent mark, 'EUROPE' and factory marks in Pennington's distinctive hand.
