This nineteenth-century oil on board depicts a restful country scene featuring a wooded landscape with a church in the background, a lady walking with a child, and a cottage to the right. The unsigned artwork is set within an ornate, heavily carved gold-coloured wooden frame decorated with elaborate foliate scrollwork moulding at the corners and along the borders. Hanging from a metal chain fixed to the top edge, the entire assembly measures 44 cm high, 51 cm wide, and 6 cm deep, while the painting itself is 29 cm by 37 cm. Suitable for display in a living room, hallway, or study, this piece brings traditional pastoral charm to contemporary interiors.
