A John Rose Coalport Porcelain Trio in the 'Marquess of Anglesey' Type Pattern C.1805

Description

A John Rose Coalport Porcelain Bute Shape Trio in 'Marquess of Anglesey' Pattern c.1815. Very finely painted with a continuous band of luxuriant and well painted garden flowers, of sunflower, roses, passionflower, peonies and anemones set into a solid burnished gilt ground. Gilt borders and a chain link pattern running around the outside, with a single painted flower to the centre.  

This pattern has been traditionally described as coming from the Marquess of Anglesey service. A mixed dessert service of Swansea and Nantgarw porcelain of this pattern belonged to the Marquess and was sold in the late 1930s and again in the 1960s. This pattern also appears on Swansea tea and breakfast wares and is found in the products of several other factories including Coalport. 

Condition: Teacup in good condition with some light wear. Flea-bite size chip to the rim of the saucer. Star crack to the base of the coffee can.
