Carved Oak Panelled Settle / Hall Bench

Item Code: LC1440

A substantial and highly decorative antique oak settle, featuring a tall panelled back richly ornamented with repeated circular rosette motifs, turned spindle detail and carved foliate decoration to the outer uprights.

The back is arranged with four principal panelled sections, each incorporating geometric mouldings, pierced and turned detail and carved roundels. Above is a particularly decorative openwork cresting with further turned spindles and circular carved motifs. The shaped open arms are supported by turned uprights, while the broad solid seat sits above a deep panelled front decorated with further concentric roundel carving.

With its impressive scale and strong architectural appearance, this would make an excellent statement piece for a large entrance hall, country house interior, dining room or commercial setting.
