ABOUT THIS ITALIAN ARTIST : Angelo Maria Crivelli 1660-1730)
According to Orlandi, he' painted with surprising truth and spirit' and was considered to be one of the most accomplished painters of this genre Italy had ever produced. He died in 1730.
Also known as a painter from the Milanese stable but also very active in Piedmont thanks to the Savoy family.
Crivelli was probably influenced by Flemish painting, in particular by painters linked to Rubens' circle. His artistic production focuses on the representation of hunting scenes, wild and domestic animals, farmyard animals and fish.
Some of his paintings are present in the Pinacoteca of the Castello Sforzesco in Milan and in the Palazzo Reale in Turin.
In the Hunting Room of Villa Arconati in Castellazzo di Bollate, eight canvases depicting poultry and fish from the Crivellone are preserved, as well as four large hunting scenes, commissioned by the Arconati family in 1705
