Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian garden benches often combined sturdy timber construction with decorative Arts and Crafts flourishes, such as pierced motifs or subtle carving. Teak was favoured for outdoor furniture during this period due to its natural oils and exceptional durability against weathering.

Teak contains high levels of natural resins and oils that make it naturally resistant to water, rot, and insect damage. Traditional joinery, including mortise and tenon joints, ensured these benches could withstand decades of outdoor exposure.

Authentic pieces feature handcrafted joinery, subtle period motifs like heart or vertical slat cut-outs, and a silver-grey patina on unvarnished wood. They typically display natural wear and weathering consistent with age rather than uniform artificial distressing.

A weathered teak bench can be placed on a stone terrace, integrated into a greenhouse, or used indoors in a spacious hallway or conservatory. Modern soft furnishings, such as neutral linen cushions, create a refined contrast against the aged timber.

To preserve the natural silvery patina, clean the timber periodically using mild soapy water and a soft brush to remove algae. Avoid harsh chemicals or pressure washers, which can strip the wood fibres and compromise structural integrity.
