This landscape watercolour by Sonia Lawson R.A. dates from the 1960 period and depicts the view of Penhill in Wensleydale. The composition is executed on paper using watercolour paints, rendered in a palette dominated by muted greens, greys, browns, and soft yellows. The artwork shows an expansive rural scene with rolling fields, dry stone walls, small buildings, and a prominent flat-topped hill under an overcast sky, bearing a signature and inscription on the reverse. The framed piece measures 43 cm high, 53 cm wide, and 3 cm deep. Ideal for display in a living room, study, or hallway, the framed watercolour brings a traditional British landscape aesthetic to interior spaces. The piece arrives ready to hang, suiting both period properties and contemporary rooms seeking a historic artistic focal point. Collectors of mid-century British art and works by Royal Academicians find this piece a fitting addition to existing wall displays.
