In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the 1850s.
It is framed in its original walnut frame.
There is a hand written signature on the reverse of the canvas - "hand painted by Ralph Mayers". There is an impressed owners mark on the wooden stretcher of the painting : "E.Spiller. 98 Holborn Hill. London"
The painting is in good original condition. There have been a couple of repairs to the canvas which has left some minor marks on the painting (see photos) but overall it displays well. The frame is in good order with a lovely colour. The painting has been lightly cleaned and is ready to hang.
